Elisabeth and Rylan were married August 3rd, 2019 on Vancouver Island, BC. After meeting a few years ago, they connected so well that Rylan eventually made his way east to live and study near Elisabeth. While their community is spread from one Canadian coast to the other, they chose to celebrate their marriage in Rylan’s parents’ backyard in the Comox Valley—a special place for both. And what a celebration it was!
It was so neat to see friends and family gather from far and wide. The rainbow garden hardly needed decorating, but these two wove their own woodsy, coastal touches throughout the day. They chose rich colours for their wedding party, a decision of which I’m always a big fan. But the thing I’ll remember most about this wedding is the words shared by their friends’ speeches. You can always glimpse the calibre of a couple by the way their friends and family speak about them, and it seems like Elisabeth and Rylan are so respected and loved. I had to pause a few times during the best men’s speech to pull it together—not only did it make me tear up, it also transformed the way I think about long distant friendships and video game culture! (Seriously.)
Thanks so much for having me document your day, Elisabeth and Rylan. It is clear that you’re supported by good people. Congratulations on life together!
