Marijke and Jon were married on a late-August afternoon in Toronto, BC. Their day began with a traditional door-knocking game before family from all over the world met for a tea ceremony at the Windsor Arms Hotel. After this, we escaped to the forest for some portraits (and a tiny concert!) as a wedding party, before heading into a stained-glass ceremony at Timothy Eaton Memorial Church.

Nathan and Vanessa were married on a bright cloud kind of day in a small blue church off Commercial drive. They marked their ceremony with hymns, flames, and wooden pews lined with friends and family.

In July, Matt and I travelled to France and Italy. These film images captured the majority of what I felt drawn to: icons, architecture, sunflowers, combed hills, corners of our various homes, my travel companion.

Mitch and Nicole were married beneath a wide wooden church ceiling on a bright Vancouver Saturday in June. After seaside portraits by Jericho’s willow trees, we celebrated at False Creek Community Centre, where the room was full of eucalyptus and wood touches, tearful speeches, good beer, and a dance party to end all dance parties.

Brianna and Ryan live their life by (and for!) the ocean. This marine biologist and a coast guard pair even met on a boat, so it made sense to get married by the sea. They wove marine elements—colours, textures, and paraphernalia—throughout their ceremony and reception, and it was such a beautiful day, surrounded by blue waters and skies, rich speeches, and such sincere love.

Corey and Nicole were married on June 8, 2019, among the wooden pews of Grandview Calvary Baptist Church off Commercial Drive. Their wedding party was clothed in bright cheer—buttercup-yellow, kelly green, and woodsy touches—which seemed to capture the spirit of this pair.

Carrie and Obadiah’s wedding was a big laughs, lots of heart kind of day—framed with blue skies (and dresses) and sun and lavender and JOY. I’m delighted to share a glimpse of their day with you all!

Madison and Chandler were married in a stained-glass Kitsilano church on September 29, 2018. They lined the velvet aisles with eucalyptus and celebrated richly with 150 of their favourite people. From a wedding party that knows how to dance mid-portrait session to a couple whose laughter is big, this was an incredible day with some really high-calibre people.

Lee and Dave’s day was filled with olive branches, benediction, bright gold light, mad farmer liberation fronts, bubble wands, sunset mountains, and feast, feast, feast. Both Lee and Dave brought care and intention to this day, which is no surprise to anyone who knows them.

It's been a summer of crumpled light, feeding and being fed, tupperware birthday cake, kelp skipping ropes, and sun that lingers—on skin, on horizons, on your thawing thought self.

This time last year, I was wrapping up coursework for my MA in English in Montreal. This roll preserves a slice of that spring, which was a season of biking in sticky-wet shade, trying to tire the restlessness that comes from unstructured thesis-writing time. It was a time of asparagus (as it always is), of procrastination, and of sour saison beers beneath Vices & Versa's spangled tree.

To celebrate Adrienne and Rob's 2017 engagement, we visited their favourite donut-date spot—49th Parallel, duh—as well as the foggy, fir-clad hill upon which they got engaged, in Queen Elizabeth Park.
